ARCHAEOLOGY

The North Carolina State Historic Preservation Office statewide inventory contains information on over 850 prehistoric and historic archaeological sites in Hoke County.

GRANTS

State grants of $135,500 have assisted in the restorations of Mill Prong near Edinburgh, the Hoke County Courthouse, and the Aberdeen and Rockfish Depot in Raeford.

NATIONAL REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES

Four National Register listings include two plantation houses (Mill Prong and Puppy Creek Plantation), a major antebellum Presbyterian Church (Long Street), and the Hoke County Courthouse.

RESTORATION

The Historic Preservation Office has provided technical assistance for the restoration of Mill Prong Plantation near Edinburgh, the Hoke County Courthouse, the Aberdeen and Rockfish Depot in Raeford, and many other buildings throughout the county.
